This role is integral to maintaining the high standards of our technical facilities and ensuring an optimal learning environment for our learners within the academy’s FE provision. The ideal candidate will be motivated, organised, and possess a good understanding of jewellery-making materials and tools.

We would also welcome previous BAJ learners for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle sales of materials and consumables to learners, including cash reconciliation

  • Ensure all health and safety requirements are met, including maintaining first aid kits and safety equipment
  • Conduct daily safety checks in workshops at the beginning and end of each working day
  • Record accidents in the on-site accident record books
  • Maintain all Health and Safety posters across all sites
  • Provide technical support to staff during lesson time
  • Assist in developing appropriate resources for teaching and learning
  • Work closely with the Lead Technician on various projects for the academy, including improvements to workshop facilities and development of processes
  • Take part in continued professional development activities

Qualifications and Skills

  • Good understanding of jewellery-making materials and tools
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Google drive, sheets and docs would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a workshop environment
