Job Purpose

To process, prepare, assay and hallmark articles submitted to the branch office, in accordance with in-house procedures.

1             Main Duties & Responsibilities
1.1          Process and prepare goods for Assay and Hallmarking, in accordance with in house
              procedures.
1.2          Assess and Assay articles in accordance with in-house procedures
1.3          Hallmark articles in accordance with in-house procedures
1.4          Maintain clean and orderly working stations.
1.5          Carry out remedial work on jewellery products as required.

2             Key Performance Responsibilities
2.1          Financial Responsibility and Non-financial asset responsibility
•             Responsible for reporting any defective equipment to the Branch manager or to the
               main office, in the Branch Manager’s absence.
2.2          Accountability, Judgement and Decision Making
•             Decisions are based on in house procedures. Any decisions out with the procedures
              should be referred to the Branch Manager or Senior Assay Technician, in their absence
2.3          Job Complexity and Responsibility
•              Meet deadlines and prioritise workload accordingly
•              Deal with varied day to day workload
•              As part of the Branch office team, contribute to continuous improvement of in-house
               processes and procedures.
2.4          Internal Communications and Relationships
•              Establish a good working relationship with all colleagues
•              Communicate with Branch Manager, Senior Assay Technician and the main office as
               necessary.
2.5          Special Conditions
•             Handling some heavy articles.
3            General

3.1         To undertake training, as necessary, to maintain high standards in the quality of work,
              as outlined in the Job Description.
3.2         To be aware of current Health and Safety Policy and to take responsibility for own safety
              and the safety of other members of staff who may be affected by your acts or omissions
              at work.
3.3         Understand and comply with the Assay Office values as detailed in the Staff Handbook.
3.4         To make visits to the main office when required.
3.5         To undertake any other duties within the scope of the Assay Office.
