Winter Exhibition at Anne Morgan Jewellery
Winter Exhibition at Anne Morgan Jewellery
Date: now open
Venue: Anne Morgan Jewellery, 10 Glebe Street, Penarth CF64 1ED, Vale of Glamorgan
Anne Morgan Jewellery in Penarth is marking its 11th birthday with a winter exhibition of new work by Anne and eight guest jewellers, just in time for Christmas shopping.
The Penarth gallery has been showing contemporary handmade jewellery for 11 years, and its winter exhibition brings new pieces to the gallery from Anny Hsieh, Cara Tonkin, Chris Hawkins, Rebecca Burt, Leoma Drew, La Plata, Annabet Wyndham and Bonnie Mustoe-Whitehill, alongside new designs by Anne herself.
Anne Morgan trained in designed metalwork and jewellery at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College, graduating in 1996, and is a member of the Makers Guild in Wales and the Association for Contemporary Jewellery. She is known for reticulated silver, in which the surface of the metal is partly melted to create a rippled texture, and sets these organic textures against strong lines and simple geometry, often with stones such as garnet, aquamarine and fluorite or with found coastal objects. She designed the crown for the 2012 National Eisteddfod in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Alongside its exhibitions, the gallery offers a bespoke service for commissions and remodels of existing jewellery, by appointment with Anne.
Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 10am–5pm (closed Sunday and Monday)
