European Triennial of Contemporary Jewelery
At the Great Hall of the Former Abattoirs of Mons / Triennial
Every year, the WCC-BF organizes alternately the European Triennial of Ceramics and Glass, the European Triennial of Contemporary Jewelery and the European Prize for Applied Arts. These exhibitions have an international reputation, they involve many partnerships.
For this edition f the European Triennial of Contemporary Jewelery, Sweden and France are investing with Belgium the Grande-Halle des Anciens Abattoirs with their many contemporary variations of jewelery.
The current hybridization of disciplines, characteristic of global contemporary creation, no longer spares jewelery. In recent years, the fundamental gap between the accessory and the art object is gradually widening. Transdisciplinary, almost undisciplined, artists play the daring card of contemporary jewelry.
Beyond his materiality, he questions his time. Living art, the contemporary jewel is done performance. Mediator between the self and the other, he works in concert with other mediums, and overcomes the aesthetic, technical and discursive barriers to think our existence through our bodies, essential links of the chain.
In 2017, the WCC • BF presents the sixth installment of the European Jewelery Triennial.
