Rising Stars 2024

New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham

16 March - 27 April 2024

Rising Stars is a curated national platform that fosters and champions early career makers. Rising Stars offers the makers a first step into the professional exhibitions. It offers an exciting opportunity for collectors who wish to support and acquire work by future stars.

Following a popular open call with 165 applications, 27 Rising Stars were selected for the showcase. We recognise there is a lack of representation from Black, Asian, and ethnically diverse backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ makers and makers who identify as having a visible or non-visible disability in the Southeast region. To address this imbalance, 52% of Rising Stars makers are from one of the underrepresented groups, making it a great and diverse showcase of early career talent.

The programme will consist of the Rising Stars exhibition, a catalogue, and a financial skills training programme for the 27 artists.

On 15 March, one of the makers will receive a professional development award of £1,000 and a solo exhibition in 2025. The winner will be selected by Debra Allman (University for the Creative Arts), Dr Outi Remes (New Ashgate Gallery) and Dan Goode (Making Goode / Handmade Britain).

Harry Chadwick, the Winner of 2023 Rising Stars, returns for a sculptural exhibition.
Mixing pop art with metalwork excellence, it's a must-see event for sculpture fans. Join us to meet Harry himself.

Rising Stars 2024 is organised by New Ashgate Gallery in partnership with the University for the Creative Arts and Dan Goode of Making Goode. It is supported by The Radcliffe Trust and Billmeir Charitable Trust.
