Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Oxford Gallery by Joan Crossley-Holland MBE and Valerie Stewart.
Oxford Pioneers: a new collaboration between Oxford Ceramics Gallery and Amanda Game that brings together works by 27 exceptional UK artists (principally in the field of ceramics) as a way of marking the pioneering work of Oxford Gallery (1968-2001).
Oxford Gallery (1968-2001) is a story of pioneering women, and the intertwined worlds of artists and craftsmanship. It is also a story inextricably linked with the art of ceramics which catalysed its foundation; formed a key part of its exhibition programme and has left the most visible legacy both here in Oxford and throughout the UK.
Its work in this field makes Oxford Ceramics Gallery (est. 2006) a fitting host for an exhibition marking the fiftieth anniversary of the original gallery’s founding. James Fordham and Rachel Ackland continue to welcome clients and supporters to their Walton Street Gallery whose love for, and interest in, ceramics was first nurtured at Oxford Gallery.

Join us for a series of artist talks introduced by the Curator and Matthew Winterbottom at the Ashmolean Museum, 3-5pm, including: Furniture Maker, John Makepeace Jeweller, Jacqueline Mina in conversation with Lady Marie Alexander and Potter, Julian Stair.
