Mastery - The European Prize for Applied Arts

24.11.2024 → 16.02.2025

Belgium

Initiated in 2009, the European Prize for Applied Arts aims to reward the best creations of contemporary expression in applied arts and artisanal design.

From November 24, 2024 to February 16, 2025, a major exhibition bringing together some of the best European creators in the field of contemporary applied arts opens its doors at the Anciens Abattoirs in Mons. A 6th edition that will bring together 58 artists from 16 European countries, for around a hundred unique works exhibited.

The exhibition aims to offer the best of what is done in Europe, through technically and aesthetically mastered creations. It showcases the artistic crafts of ceramics, glass, goldsmithing, wood, textiles, paper, contemporary jewelry… all creations that call upon the mastery of gesture. Beyond know-how, it is the contemporary character of these creations that is just as important to present. Today's creators are breaking free from traditional codes to question the world. New materials and new techniques are added to traditional recipes to show an art form that is as modern as it is ancient, as codified as it is reactionary.

For a fair reconsideration of the mastery of the gesture, BeCraft has attributed a new title to its event: MAESTRIA
