Yorkshire Sculpture Park
MADE is YSP Shop's changing programme of contemporary craft and applied arts which showcases the work of established and up-and-coming artists, designers and makers.
This silver tower by Vicki Ambrey Smith is inspired by Bella Vista, a folly that used to stand in the grounds before it became the Sculpture Park. It is a stacking set of small containers for perfume perhaps, or potpourri.
‘As a folly the original tower was built for fun. Ed’s picture evokes a story of exploration. I like my silver objects to have a playful, unexpected aspect to them. This miniature tower opens on two levels to make a stack of small containers for small secret objects. There is a special romanticism to places once lived in but abandoned.’
