K2 Academy of Contemporary Jewellery presents Ute Decker

As an ongoing series of talks and seminars by makers, artists and jewellerswe are very happy to be presenting Ute Decker as our inaugural speaker and would like to invite you to this talk.

Ute Decker is a pioneer of the global ethical jewellery movement and one of the first worldwide to work in Fairtrade Gold. She is best known for her minimalist, architectural jewellery art. Her innovative method of sculpting, bending, and twisting gold and silver into expressive three-dimensional “geometric poetry” make her pieces unique. In this talk she will share her journey, creative processes and philosophy behind her work.

The talk will start at 5.30pm with an informal Q&A session afterwards.

About KAcademy of Contemporary Jewellery

Kelvin Birk and Katrin Spranger, who have successfully been teaching short courses and masterclasses for a while, have founded KAcademy of Contemporary Jewellery.

They offers a new approach to professional jewellery training in the heart of central London.

As they are both passionate about jewellery making and teaching, they will bring a conceptual, freethinking approach to design underpinned by a thorough technical training. Between them, they have many years of experience in teaching and working in the field of jewellery.

Students who are looking for a thorough grounding in jewellery making and design as an alternative to a university degree, or professionals who want to broaden their skills will find K² the ideal place, as it offers the perfect balance between a craft and design education.
