Inspired 2017
This May will see the much-anticipated return of INSPIRED - the luxury contemporary silverware and furniture selling showcase at the Goldsmiths’ Centre during London Craft Week.
This leading exhibition, now in its fifth year, brings together some of the UK’s finest and up-and-coming silversmiths and furniture makers in one unique curated platform. With demand for original hand crafted goods currently experiencing an exciting resurgence, this is a fabulous and unique opportunity to invest in a one-off or bespoke piece from one of Britain’s most talented artisans.
The exhibition will feature work from the UK’s leading silversmiths including Brett Payne, Rebecca Joselyn, Karina Gill and Fred Rich and will also include a selection of new silversmith graduates making their debut. Furniture makers attending the show include world-renowned John Makepeace, Toby Winteringham, Little Halstock, Sarah Kay and Edward Wild, who is working on a collaboration with silversmith Karen Wallace especially for the show. All of the furniture designers exhibiting hold The Furniture Makers’ Company’s coveted Bespoke Guild Mark – the foremost reward for excellence in design, materials, craftsmanship and function for pieces made as single items or a limited run of up to 12.
Makers are currently busy working on this year’s designs - but visitors should expect to see pieces never before exhibited at INSPIRED with prices to suit all budgets. From the moderately affordable - think a posy flower vase by Angela Cork, a quirky sardine sauce pot by Rebecca Joselyn or a vessel Inspired by the mechanics of the space industry from last years ‘exceptional promise’ award winner Karen Westland; to the premium - for the more serious collector seeking an original furniture piece by John Makepeace, a one-off set from Brett Payne’s latest candlestick designs or an anniversary piece enamelware from Phil Barnes who celebrates his 50th year in the trade.
Entry to INSPIRED is free, so whether you are looking for a future heirloom, want to buy or commission a bespoke piece of furniture, are hoping to find a unique wedding gift, or you just want to give your eyes a treat - come and be captivated and wonder at the marvels of our brilliant craftspeople.
