Over 4 days, 14 recently graduated artists will work with people passing by to create new artworks in Cathedral Square. Showcasing the work of art, craft and design graduates from across the UK and bringing the work of emerging artists to new audiences.
Come and meet the artists and take part in their workshops which, this year, explore themes of care.
Everyone is welcome and it is free to watch and take part.
The artworks created with the public will be on display inside the Cathedral and around the churchyard until Monday 27th May 2024.
Amongst the CraftSpace makers, jeweller and artist Alice Biolo, whose conceptual, sculptural jewellery practice translates emotional processes into tangible ones. Approaching her practice as she would a therapy journal, Alice uses her creative methods to work through traumatic experiences, and the subsequent stages of understanding that follow. Through designing and making, her projects offer a way to give these distinct stages identity and form.
Her pieces create a physical point of connection to private, inner feelings for their wearer, and for her In:Site project, Alice will help people to reclaim their insecurities by transferring them onto a wearable piece of art taking the form of a personalised brooch. These personal objects of beauty offer a way to acknowledge our feelings, and place them within our control.
