Great Scots

The Scottish Gallery Online

3 - 27 June 2020

The Scottish Gallery are pleased to introduce Great Scots in Isolation, which is a series of short 1-2 minute films by Scottish Gallery artists from Scotland, UK and internationally. The Scottish Gallery wants to show solidarity to all at this time of isolation and let you into our artists' worlds.

When the country went into lockdown on the 23rd March 2020, our lives changed dramatically. As the world around us closed down, our instinct was to reach out to our artists and allow them to have a voice and creative platform during the lockdown. For many artists, working in isolation is a way of life. Great Scots in Isolation is a series of short, 1-2 minute films made by a wide range of artists who are currently represented by The Scottish Gallery. These artists are from Scotland and the UK and have very kindly agreed to reach out and say hello, share their views, or have made a creative visual for us.

We are grateful to all the artists who have made a short film during this time and so far, we’ve had positive feedback from our gallery friends – the films have helped, in a small way, to offer some support and a creative distraction whilst we all experience the lockdown together. Great Scots in Isolation, The Exhibition is our way of continuing to support our artists. Many of the art works featured have been created during the lockdown.

The films can all be viewed here
