Beyond COP31: Navigating Climate Action in a Fractured and Uncertain World

Beyond COP31: Navigating Climate Action in a Fractured and Uncertain World
Date: Thursday 19 November 2026, 4pm–6.30pm GMT (11am–1.30pm EST)
Venue: online
Initiatives in Art and Culture and the World Gold Council are hosting a webinar on what drives climate action in gold mining now that global politics are more divided.
For three decades, the COP process, the annual UN climate change conference, has been seen as the main driver of climate progress. But as politics become more fragmented and rules differ more from country to country, this webinar asks what the most important drivers of climate action now are. The speakers will look at the obstacles and the opportunities for positive change, and ask whether we need to rethink, or even reset, our expectations and ambitions.
It is the third in a series developed by New York-based Initiatives in Art and Culture (IAC) with the World Gold Council, and focuses on climate, an urgent concern for the gold mining sector, and the progress made so far.
Speakers:
- Lisa Koenigsberg, President and Founder, Initiatives in Art and Culture
- John Mulligan, Head of Sustainability Strategy, World Gold Council
- Lisa Sachs, Director of the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment and Associate Professor at Columbia Climate School
- Nick Bridge CMG, former UK Special Representative for Climate Change
