FORGE will be hosting a fortnight of events, talks & workshops.
At our LEARN-TO workshops you can learn wax carving, laser welding, collet making, gem illustration & more! Our events & talks include Stone carving with Sanni Falkenberg, Brilliant Bingo with Kerry Gregory of Gemmology Rocks, authors Rachael Taylor and Mary Ann Wingfield in conversation, behind the scenes of All That Glitters with Tamara Gomez and a lot more!

Make-Day: Stack Rings
You will be guided through making a set of three silver stack rings with different textures and finishes which are unique to you and made by you! With between 8 and 10 fellow makers it will be a fun social experience finished off with a glass of bubbles whilst admiring each other’s creative achievements.

Learn-To: Laser Welding With Tony Dellow
Learn from a true expert in his field! Tony Dellow was one of the first adopters of the laser welder in the Hatton Garden jewellery trade, now a professional workshop is rarely without one! You will be guided through the various different settings and practice attaching an earring post, repairing a claw in a diamond ring, weld a shank closed and repair a chain link!

Talk: Stone Carving With Sanni Falkenberg
Discover the art of stone carving with Sanni Falkenberg, lapidary artist and jeweller. With examples of her carved precious stones and objet d’art sculpted by combining her skilled process with the intrinsic nature of the stone.
Sanni will talk about her education and passion for her work and discuss the characteristics of the stones she chooses. This will be a fascinating talk with plenty of time for questions and to see and hold these beautiful sculptures in your hands.

Launch Party
On Thursday 9 February brand new Hatton Garden multi-purpose creative hub, FORGE will open its doors to the industry and public with a long awaited launch event. Designed by award-winning jeweller Amanda
Mansell, this new initiative offers a unique, flexible, and friendly new home for the industry, as well as a workshop, retail, and events space, providing a place for all those interested in jewellery to meet face to face.
FORGE encourages cross engagement between maker and buyer through jewellery making workshops, talks, demonstrations, and events. It connects skilled artisans and discerning consumers who share an appreciation for creativity, craft and unique design.
Make-Day: Valentines Date Night - Make A Pendant Gift
Enjoy a creative Valentines date this year at FORGE! Come and have some fun making each other a pendant or dog tag stamped with a personalised message. Could be tongue in cheek or a humorous expression of affection for each other. Whatever you decide to say, the workshop is designed to be a fun and sociable evening with 4 other couples, rounded off with a glass of prosecco before you head off for your romantic dinner for two.

This is an opportunity to meet and chat with Russell Lownsbrough & Danila Tarcinale who will give an overview of their popular book - Wax Carving for Jewellers. With such in-depth knowledge and experience who better to quiz on the subject? So, bring your questions and buy the book! Light lunch & refreshments provided.

Learn-To: Wax Carving Taster With Russell Lownsbrough
Create your own bespoke ring, in this short taster workshop using the ancient art of wax-carving and 6500 year old techniques. The class is taught by award-winning master-craftsman Russell Lownsbrough, and author of Wax Carving for Jewellery. You really couldn’t be in better hands! It is advisable to attend the Ask The Expert session preceding this workshop for an overview which is free to workshop participants.

Make-Day: Silver Stack Bracelets
You will be guided through the process of making a set of two or three silver stack bracelets with different textures and finishes which you can mix and match and stack together. And with between 8 and 10 fellow makers, it will also be a wonderful social experience with some mingling and a glass of bubbles at the end whilst admiring your creative achievements.!

Justin Wilson has been a Hatton Garden diamond mounter for nearly 40 years. He will show you all the skills
you need to make a tapered collet – from measuring your stone, making a template, bending up, forming, and
soldering! Not to mention enlightening you to all his valuable tips and tricks!

Talk: In Conversation Book Review
Mary Ann Wingfield is author of Modern British Jewellery Designers 1960-1980. An introduction to the most influential British designers spanning two decades and reveals the inspirations behind the evolution of their identifiable designs and signature styles. Rachael Taylor author of two books about Tiffany & Cartier - The Story Behind the Style. A visual history of two of the world's most iconic brands and jewels of our times.
Hear Mary Ann and Rachael discuss what inspired them to choose these periods to focus on? Which designs stood out to them and why? Which designs do they feel have had the biggest influence? What to look for when collecting jewellery?
