Festival of Crafts 2018
Farnham Maltings’ longest running craft event, festival of crafts, is back in October, with more makers showcasing their craft than ever before.
The annual two-day show confirms that the appetite for handmade, contemporary craft continues to grow. Now in its 22nd year, festival of crafts has long been established as one of Britain’s leading independent craft events and will welcome over 2,000 craft and making enthusiasts through the doors over the weekend.
Throughout the historic Maltings buildings, a curated range of over 80 emerging talents and established makers from Surrey, Hampshire and across the UK (including London, Cardiff, Brighton, and as far afield as Scotland and the Isle of Wight) make up the diverse marketplace. Specialising in textiles, glass, leather, ceramics, jewellery and more, the sellers offer unique, handcrafted work to suit varying tastes and budgets.
As a celebration of craft, the complementary programme of innovative installations, bookable workshops, demos and participatory activities provide an accessible experience both for the curious and the knowledgeable, in a relaxed environment for the whole family to enjoy.
Festival of Crafts is the final event of Farnham Craft Town Month, a celebration of contemporary craft in Farnham throughout October. In its fourth year, Farnham Craft Town Month aims to recognise Farnham’s rich heritage in craft and the contemporary makers based in the town. Visitors are invited to listen, watch and get creative (with activities suitable for all) as Farnham Town Council and many local creative organisations, including Farnham Maltings, University for the Creative Arts and the Museum of Farnham, come together to host this celebration of craft.
