Exhibition Open: 22 May – 7 June 2025
An international showcase of student collaboration, Exchange: A Dialogue in Jewellery highlights the power of creative conversation and cross-cultural interpretation through contemporary jewellery.
Exchange is a collaborative project between students from the Silversmithing and Jewellery department at The Glasgow School of Art and Liceo Artistico Pietro Selvatico in Italy. The project explores the creative exchange between students, pairing them to share personal influences and reinterpret them through jewellery-making. This dialogue encourages new perspectives and cultivates conversations around artistic influence, materiality, and expression.
The exhibition brings together contemporary student work and historical pieces from the Helen Cargill Thompson Collection, kindly loaned by The Glasgow School of Art’s Archives and Collections. These archival works offer a tangible link to the past, enriching the students' responses and illuminating the on
going dialogue between tradition and innovation in jewellery design.
Supported by The Glasgow School of Art Archives and Collections and AGC – Associazione Gioiello Contemporaneo, Exchange celebrates jewellery as a medium of continual reinvention -where ideas are not only worn, but shared, reimagined, and transformed across cultures and generations.
During the opening night, one outstanding student will be awarded a year-long free membership to AGC and the opportunity to exhibit in Milan during Milano Jewellery Week (October 2025) at Archivio Negroni.
The award will be judged by a distinguished panel: Stephen Bottomley, Maria Rosa Franzin, Eliana Negroni
