Bejewelled: Badges, Brotherhood and Identity

The Library and Museum of Freemasonry presents Bejewelled: Badges, Brotherhood and Identity

By wearing badges we can connect with one another and reveal something about ourselves. With their unique symbols and hidden meanings, Bejewelled: Badges, Brotherhood and Identity features over 150 stunning examples of masonic badges referred to as ‘jewels’. It is the largest public display of its kind ever staged in the UK.

Including jewels from around the world, the exhibition sheds light on a long and celebrated tradition. Examples like the Egyptian-inspired Authors’ Lodge jewel and delightful Barraclough Plate jewel tell the story of freemasonry over three centuries.

Whether made by Prisoners of War or for future kings, the beautiful craftsmanship that the jewels display is only matched by the story behind each one.
