A new international trade fair for the jewellery, watch and gemstone industries launches in Basel next April, aiming to bring Asian and European businesses together.

The inaugural Basilia Jewellery & Watch Fair will take place in Basel from 8 to 11 April 2027. The B2B fair is organised by MCH Exhibitions & Events in partnership with Informa Markets, whose Hong Kong shows, Jewellery & Gem ASIA in June and Jewellery & Gem WORLD in September, are among the industry’s leading sourcing events.

The fair marks the return of a major jewellery and watch event to Basel, which was home to Baselworld until 2019. MCH CEO Roman Imgrüth says the timing is right for a new beginning, as new markets, new generations of buyers and changing sourcing requirements reshape the industry. Basilia is being built from the ground up as a focused, curated platform, with the emphasis on face-to-face business and new connections as much as on presentation. Exhibitors are promised direct access to the international buyers and media most relevant to them.

Informa Markets brings an international network: its jewellery events attract more than 260,000 trade visitors a year. Basel, meanwhile, has held fairs since 1471, when Emperor Frederick III granted the city the privilege. Letizia Elia, CEO of Basel Tourismus, points to the city’s compact size, international links and position at the meeting point of Switzerland, France and Germany, along with its art, culture and architecture.

More than 2,500 hotel rooms in a range of categories and price points have been reserved for visitors and exhibitors, at rates comparable to those offered for major congresses in Basel. They will be available shortly through the fair’s official booking platform.
