For the fourth consecutive year, Athens Jewelry Week will open its doors at the end of May, with a renewed program, new collaborations and more energy than ever.
As often happens around jewelry festivals, institutional moments will complement an off program that will allow the rediscovery of the city for residents and not only.
A new way of looking at the art and history of this ancient civilization, through the filter of the jewel that allows to open up to new meanings, experiences and stimulate the growth of a lively sector in Greece.
The objective of this dynamic institution is to present to the Greek audience the trends and the rich diversity of contemporary art jewelry, as they have been evolving in Greece and abroad.
AJW 2019 covers a week of exhibitions, lectures and workshops, highlighting contemporary jewelry makers, their art and their authentic voices.
The main collaboration is confirmed to be with the Benaki Museum, which will once again host the main exhibition, titled Art + Jewelry: Intersecting Spaces, including the presence of more than 40 artists
To be highlighted the important partnership with the Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum, which will host some of the most important Jewelry schools from all over the world by showing their students’ work, as well as the new collaboration with the French Institute of Greece that will host the collective exhibition Materio Talk, curated by the French jewelry maker Sébastien Carré.
Popeye loves Olive Art Space welcomes the Swedish artist Hanna Hedman to a solo exhibition.
These are just some of the many events that will characterize the Greek jewelry week, including exhibitions, readings and seminars.
Not to be missed is the awarding of prizes, which will once again make an important milestone for both the organizers and the participants.
Athens Jewelry Week is organised by Anticlastics.
The Anticlastics group is formed by Erato Kouloubi and Niki Stylianou. Both are active in the Contemporary Jewelry scene and follow parallel paths. Their work covers a wide range of areas in the field of creative expression : from research and design to making and teaching. The Anticlastics group is a non-profit entity aiming, through collective action, to promote Contemporary Jewelry in Greece and abroad, enhancing awareness and exchange of views.
