Call for Applications: The Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council Awards 2020

The Goldsmiths' Craft and Design Council is an organisation that promotes the highest standards in design and craftsmanship within the jewellery, goldsmithing, silversmithing industry and allied crafts. As part of the promotion of excellence the Council runs the annual Craftsmanship & Design Awards.

This competition has helped to launch the careers of many eminent craftspeople in the profession and are the only peer reviewed awards in the industry's calendar. Fondly known as the 'Oscars of the Industry' they reward outstanding technical skill and design ability. The Awards are open to anyone in the United Kingdom engaged in designing or working with precious metals, gemstones and other related materials. The competition covers all areas of activity; 2D and 3D Design and 3D Craft categories and we encourage everyone to enter.

Who Can Enter

For submission of work to the awards require applicants to be based and working within the United Kingdom and who are engaged in designing or working with precious metals, gemstones and other related materials. Work submitted to the competition needs to have been completed in the UK within the last entry dates of the previous competition i.e between January 2017 to January 2018.

For the purposes of these Awards and in order to judge entries fairly, individuals are judged as Senior and Junior entrants in most craft sections of the competition.

If you are undergoing training on a recognised full or part time course of study or undertaking a registered apprenticeship you will be defined as a ‘Junior’. For students only, this now includes a period of three years after completing your formal studies. All other entrants will be classed as ‘Senior’.
