Society of Designer Craftsmen

Work from home / available for meetings in London

Make A Difference!

Be part of one of the leading craft societies in the UK

This is a wonderful opportunity to join the management team of the Society of Designer Craftsmen, an organisation founded by William Morris and Walter Crane which is embarking on an exciting programme of development and change.

Our members are some of the most innovative, talented and skilled craftspeople in the country. We promote and support the work of designer makers working across craft disciplines including Ceramics, Wood, Metal, Glass and Textiles, through exhibitions, workshops and mentoring.

We’re looking for someone who will bring robust administrative support in our next phase as we strengthen our presence and raise awareness of our work. We’re seeking an utterly reliable and positive individual who will enjoy making a worthwhile contribution. An interest in craft and design is desirable but not essential.

We’re seeking a natural organiser who enjoys setting up systems, maintaining databases, managing paperwork and generally keeping things on track.

An opportunity for a dynamic individual who is flexible and can work independently to support our Chair, Trustees and volunteer teams. Candidates should ideally have a good knowledge of governance for small charities.

Initially 35 hours a month, but we expect there will be additional hours required at busier times of year with a likely bedding in period in the first 4 – 6 weeks where more hours may be necessary (agreed in advance).

Candidates will mainly work from home but should be available for meetings in London.

Hours: 35 hours a month, generally 8 hours a week with flexibility

Salary: £6,240 / annum (£15 / hour)
