ReRooted and Nourish 2017

Artistic Commission - ReRooted and Nourish 2017, Yorkshire & Humber Visual arts Network (YVAN)

Yorkshire & Humber Visual Arts Network wishes to commission an artist to create a work in response to the live and media arts festival ReROOTed taking place at the Humber Street Gallery, Hull, from 24-26 March, then present the work at YVAN’s Nourish 2017 regional conversation in Autumn this year.

YVAN aims to provide a voice for the region’s Visual Arts sector.  It is funded by Arts Council England and is a regional partner of the national Contemporary Visual Arts Network.

About Nourish 2017

Nourish 2017 will be a day of events and conversation concerning the contemporary visual arts in Yorkshire and the Humber.  The aim of Nourish 2017 is to hold a discussion with and amongst the region’s Visual Arts (VA) sector on matters of common concern, in order to establish priorities and potential actions to support and grow the sector

About the Festival

ReROOTed will feature new and existing work by more than 25 international artists and will reflect on the legacy of the former commissioning agency, Hull Time Based Arts (HTBA), and the Running Out Of Time (ROOT) Festival.  ReROOTed will include artist-led interventions, performances, installations and conversations.

The Commission

YVAN wishes to commission an artist to attend the ReRooted Festival and to create an artwork that reflects upon the themes, concerns and ideas that arise from the programme.

The artwork may be in any medium.

The artwork will be presented at Nourish 2017 and may be used as a starting point to continue exploring the themes emerging from the ReRooted festival.

Artist Fee

The commissioned artist will receive a fee of £1,000, plus a free pass to all ReRooted events, support for reasonable travel and/or accommodation for the duration of ReRooted and a free ticket to Nourish 2017.

Artists should apply by email to steve@manthorp.co.uk by Sunday 26th February, attaching a PDF under 3mb setting out in not more than 500 words the skills, qualifications and experience that make them suitable for this commission. The PDF may include links to websites and online media, and up to three images of recent work.
