Newton Leys Public Art Commission, Milton Keynes Council

Milton Keynes Council, Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council and Newton Leys Commissioning Group wishes to appoint an artist/creative practice to undertake a period of research and development in order to develop a proposal for a permanent public art work for Newton Leys.

Artists Proposal

We are looking for an artist/creative practice with an excellent track record in developing and delivering public art commissions, which respond to people, place and context.

The practitioner/s will be required to explore Newton Leys – its past, present and future; generate ideas, inspire minds and gather community feedback along the way in order to develop a proposal that captures a sense of place, celebrates Newton Leys’ unique natural environment and engages the local community. The appointed practitioner will be closely supported by Milton Keynes Council’s Culture Team and Public Art Producer.

This research and development period has a total budget of £5,000 fully inclusive of artist’s fees, materials, equipment hire, travel and any other associated costs. Payments to the appointed artist/creative practitioner will be made in line with an agreed payment schedule and deliverables. We would expect a minimum of 15 days to be spent on research and development, engagement and proposal development and presentation.

Commission Budget

The total available budget for the realisation of the second stage of the commission is £100,000.

This research and development process will need to be completed by 14th September, 2018.

The artist will need to demonstrate flexibility in relation to this contract and have availability to fit to the timescale of work.
