Modular Furniture Piece Commission, The Amelia Scott Building

Supported by Arts Council England, Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and Kent County Council invite artists to submit ambitious and exciting proposals to create one or more of seven large-scale artworks in response to the launch of their major capital commissioning programme for The Amelia Scott Building.

Each artwork will become part of the fabric of the new and redeveloped buildings that comprise The Amelia Scott in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Funded using generous grants from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England, The Amelia Scott will house a unified service which brings together cultural, educational and information services in one conserved and modernised set of buildings.

The Amelia invites proposals for a Modular Furniture Piece for the ground floor of The Amelia Scott building in preparation for a reopening due in Spring 2022. This artwork will be a visually striking element that invites people to enter the building to interact with as a seating area; a place to relax and a meeting point. It should be designed as a modular unit to allow flexibility in its composition so that it can be used to accommodate visitors’ seating needs during activities happening on or around it.

There is a total project budget of £24,000 to cover fee, production, construction, delivery and installation.
