Public Art Commission - Site Specific Social Seating

‘a space’ arts are now inviting Expressions of Interest, from visual artists with a socially engaged practice, to work as part of a project team to design and produce a new work of public art.

A prominent outdoor area has been set aside, at the former Ford Factory, on Wide Lane, Southampton, which is becoming home to a new logistics park, and we are looking for an artist to assist the development of ‘site-specific social seating’.

To Express Your Interest

To express your interest in the project:

  • Please thoroughly read through the project brief
  • Please ensure you can adhere to the timeline included in the brief before submitting an expression of interest.
  • If you are interested please send a brief cover letter, outlining your practice and / or relevant experience, along with a CV and link to your online portfolio.

Deadline

Expressions of Interest must be sent to: alex@aspacearts.org.uk by midday Monday 2nd April.

The Rest of the Process

Stage 1

Following the deadline all Expressions of Interest will be reviewed, with four shortlisted artists invited to submit a Round 1 proposal; for which a £250 fee will be provided.

Stage 2

These proposals will then be assessed and one artist will be invited to join the team and deliver their work to inform the development, content and design of the final work. An artist fee of £3,000 is available to the successful artist for this stage.

Stage 3

‘a space’ arts will then manage the fabrication process to see the designs taken into production and installation on site.
