Artist Blacksmith Commission, Cleveland Ironstone Mining Museum
Cleveland Ironstone Mining Museum wish to appoint an artist to produce a series of interpretive sculptures to complement the tour interpretation.
The overall atmospheric feel we aim to create for the visitor is one of a mine which has closed and is inhabited with hints of the former workers.
Therefore, much of the interpretation will use clever lighting and soundscapes to give the impression of mine workers. To complement these we want a few set pieces which will be photo opportunities for the visitor.
Most of these sculptures do not want to be solid as that would spoil the ephemeral effect we seek, however, being an ironstone mine we want them to be made of iron.
Therefore, we are looking for wire framed sculptures, some of which will not be complete figures.
For further details, including indicative sketches by our Interpretation Designer, contact Graham Banwell, operations@ironstonemuseum.co.uk.
