Call for Applications: New Council Members - The Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council

The Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council (GC&DC) is inviting applications from individuals both within and outside of the industry to join its ranks as a Council Member.

As part of the GC&DC’s ongoing development as a non-profit Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), it is seeking to diversify and expand the range of skills and expertise present among its voluntary Council Members. This is to further elevate its remit to promote and drive excellence and innovation within the jewellery industry through its prestigious annual Awards and related industry activities.

For the first time in its history, the GC&DC is welcoming applications from both those working in the trade and beyond — whether in sectors such as finance, design, education, advertising, fundraising, marketing, diversity and inclusion, alongside those with specialist industry experience in jewellery, silversmithing and the allied trades.

“Our voluntary Council Members form the core function of the GC&DC. Their role is to provide expertise, experience, knowledge, advice and support to the Council and its Trustees to further the GC&DC’s remit.

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to be at the heart of a tremendously creative and innovative industry. We are seeking individuals with a great passion and commitment to both the industry and the objectives of the GC&DC,” – Peter Crump, Chairman of the GC&DC

Applicants should be versed in the ever-evolving world of business and the creative arts, with experience across governance, finance, sustainability and social responsibility, and diversity and inclusion particularly welcome.

Interested applicants should consider the following criteria sought by the GC&DC:

  • Keen to join a voluntary team that is passionate about the industry, the role is a voluntary non-executive position on a Council of around 15 members
  • Forward-thinking and enthusiastic; will bring innovative ideas and solutions to help the GC&DC elevate its annual Awards to the next level
  • Willingness to share with your network and draw on contacts and experience
  • Able to offer time throughout the year to attend meetings, be part of the Awards’ organisation and ceremony, and support other activities initiated by the Council

Please visit our website for an application pack, which provides more details about the Council, the role of its members and guidelines on how to apply.

Closing date for applications is Sunday 20 September 2020.
