Open call for new emerging design talent
In addition to a wide range of exclusive commissions, the Barbican offers a ‘pop-up’ space, showcasing emerging makers on a revolving three-month basis.
We are now looking for the next Barbican Maker
Potential applicants' businesses should be under three years old and currently have a minimal retail presence. Designers and makers local to the Barbican – the City of London, Clerkenwell and East London – are particularly welcome.
The Barbican will work closely with the makers to identify the best space for their work within the store, how to display it and will promote the work through its marketing, press and social media channels. This new opportunity underlines the Barbican’s commitment to working with emerging talent and supporting their artistic development.
If you would like to submit your work this is what you need to know:
Potential applicants should:
- be operating for under three years
- have retail ready work at under £300 RRP
- supply work on a Sale or Return basis with the Barbican on a 30% commission of retail price after VAT
Products types should:
- broadly fit into one of the following categories - home, gift, collectible, prints, jewellery, stationery or children
- fit the look and feel of the Barbican and its store
