Over the past 12 months, jewellery industry change makers 'Fair Luxury' have been hosting a series of on-line events under the banner of the 'Open House.

These events have frequently involved guest speakers as well as taking an open conversation format. The overall intention has been to provide those interested in learning more about responsible practise with a forum in which to do so.

The team at Fair Luxury say that feedback has been extremely positive with many attendees keen to become further involved. As a response, the 'Fair Luxury Pledge' was launched during the January Open House session.

Fair Luxury member Anna Loucah explains:

'The idea of the pledge is to encourage all those who wish to approach their professional practise in a more responsible way to take a further step towards doing so.

For example -  you may say ' I pledge to be using only sustainably sourced packaging materials by January 2022'  By setting yourself a single, achievable goal and a realistic time frame within which to achieve it  you are taking a massive step towards realising bigger change.

If there is something that you have been intending to work on within your business but just need that little bump to get started, pledging to do so may be all the incentive that you need!

We hope that by providing this framework we can create a community of encouragement, support and information that will benefit us all.'

A devoted page on the groups website gives full details on what is involved and how to structure your own pledge. There is also a dedicated hashtag to help inspire and share your progress  #provenancepledge

Following its initial launch, 'Pledge' progress meetings will be held every twelve weeks as part of Fair Luxury's ongoing 'Open House' sessions.

During these sessions, the team will host a discussion encouraging those who have already taken the pledge to share their experiences and challenges to date - as well as hoping to motivate those attending for the first time to make pledges of their own.

The team at Fair Luxury are looking forward to welcoming guests to the next dedicated session at the end of April and state that their 'pledge' is to have inspired 100 businesses and individuals to have taken the pledge by then!
