JQ designer makers are preparing to show off their talents at a new event dedicated to uniting makers, builders and inventors from around the world.

A collective of talented designer makers from the Jewellery Quarter are set to exhibit at a brand new international show at the NEC next month.

Anticipated to be one of the biggest creative events of the year, Makers Central brings together makers, customers, suppliers and hobbyists to share ideas, products, techniques and tools.

To promote the vibrant, creative maker community that exists in the area, the Jewellery Quarter Business Improvement District (JQBID) is sponsoring a stand for smaller local businesses to showcase their work and skills to an international audience.

The local makers attending the event with the JQBID are:

  • Deborette Clarke (B18 Leather)
  • Glenn Campbell Jewellery
  • Michele White Jewellery
  • Tina Francis Tapestry

Each maker will be on the stand sharing their knowledge and experience as well as demonstrating their skills. There will also be opportunities to browse their unique and varied range of hand-made products and find out more about living and working in the Jewellery Quarter.

Luke Crane, JQBID Director, said:
“This will be our first time at Makers Central and it’s an exciting opportunity to be able to reach such a broad audience. We’ll be working alongside our JQ maker community to educate visitors and fellow exhibitors about the Jewellery Quarter. The area is renowned for its highly skilled craftspeople and extensive network of supporting industries. Events like this enable us to showcase the breadth of the creative maker community we have, and to extol the benefits of working in the Jewellery Quarter.”

Earlier this year, the JQBID requested applications from Jewellery Quarter makers to participate in the event. Following a shortlisting process, the four makers were selected, representing a variety of craft and skill.

The JQBID will be exhibiting in Hall 7 stand E40 & F41 on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th May from 10:00 to 18:00.
