Artist / Maker Residency 2010, St George's Arts - South East

St George's Arts is seeking applications from Artists and Makers based in the South East for our 2010 Residency Programme. The residency will take place over a three-month period (or longer by negotiation) between 25 February and September 2010. The aim of the residency is to give an early career artist or maker the opportunity to develop new site specific work and to gain experience in working with the public as part of the St George's Arts outreach programme.

The successful applicant will benefit from a dedicated studio at St George's Arts over the period of the residency and the opportunity to present work within the larger setting of the building as a whole. The studio will be open to visitors one day a week and in addition the resident will undertake twelve days working with the public in a range of ways which can include running workshops, working with schools / adults and giving talks etc. At the end of the residency there will be an exhibition and it is anticipated that work will be shown on an ongoing basis as the residency develops.

Preference will be given to proposals for the space, which show how the applicant will respond to the locality, building, history or people associated with the setting. This can be interpreted as broadly as the artist wishes. We are also interested in hearing about your interest and ideas for engaging a non-specialist audience in contemporary visual art / craft and how this will benefit you.

There will be an award of £2,000.

The artist / maker's application will include a short proposal, a CV and up to six images of work. Up to date CRB will be required. For details and an application form please visit:
