Welcome Trust - Large Arts Awards

Supporting imaginative art projects that explore biomedical science, visual art, music, moving images, creative writing and performance inspired by science can stimulate debate and provide new ways of thinking about the social, cultural and ethical implications of science.

The Wellcome Trust Large Arts Awards support imaginative and experimental arts projects that involve the creation of new artwork and bring together any art form and any area of biomedical science.

The scheme aims to:

- stimulate interest, excitement and debate about biomedical science through the arts

- examine the social, cultural, and ethical impact of biomedical science

- support formal and informal learning

- encourage new ways of thinking

- encourage high quality interdisciplinary practice and collaborative partnerships in arts, science and/or education practice.

All art forms are covered by the programme: dance, drama, performance arts, visual arts, music, film, craft, photography, creative writing or digital media. Collaboration between professionals from different disciplines, between adults and young people, and between experts and the public are encouraged.

The scheme is currently open for applications.
