Call for Sculpture Artists: The West Midlands Open 2010
Open welcomes submissions from all artists living in Birmingham and the West Midlands region, incorporating Staffordshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Warwickshire.Open is a biennial collaboration between Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and Wolverhampton Art Gallery,celebrating the vibrant talent of the West Midlands art scene and allowing regional artists the chance to show their work at these prestigious venues.Artists can submit up to three original works, made since January 2007, in the form of 2D (any medium), 3D (sculpture or construction, but not furniture or crafts), or time-based and digital work. First Prize is £1,000, Second Prize £500 and Third Prize £250 and the works will be selected by an independent panel including Lubaina Himid (Professor of Contemporary Art, University of Central Lancashire) and artist Harminder Singh Judge.The exhibition takes place at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery's Gas Hall from 6 March to 2 May 2010, with a Prize Giving on 4 March 2010.
