Call For Applications: The Cockpit Arts / NADFAS Award 2010

Applications are invited for the Cockpit Arts / NADFAS Award which aims to help a talented designer-maker craftsperson to set up in business for the first time. The award is for a designer-maker practising a traditional craft requiring skills at risk of dying out. This might include such crafts as paper conservation, building crafts, or conservation of textiles, books or other items. 

This Award is worth £3,000 and will contribute towards the cost of studio at a Cockpit Arts creative business incubator which includes the following benefits:

Studio space for a year within the creative community of Cockpit Arts (Holborn, WC1 or Deptford, SE8) with access to office facilities and resource centre. 

Business and professional development services including on-site coaching, a personalised development plan, access to finance, workshops and events.

A range of selling and promotional opportunities including Cockpit Arts Open Studios events.

The National Association of Decorative & Fine Arts Societies [NADFAS] is an arts-based charity with members pursuing a mutual interest in the arts through monthly lectures. Currently, there are 91,000 members in 346 Societies throughout the UK.  We have a network of over 6,000 volunteers offering invaluable help with heritage conservation and church recording projects, as well as an outstanding reputation for working with young people to encourage and enhance their appreciation and understanding of art and our artistic heritage. The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday 25 June 2010. 

Interviews with shortlisted applicants will be held on Thursday 1 July 2010.
